Indeed, what I present in this talk is adapting to manganites the heuristic (and reasoning) already defined by Colin Humphreys in this articleInterestingly, his work was advertised to be submitted in Nature in Physic World  (17 oct 1997) but only made its ways in the most osbcur and Acta Cryst A journal instead, so it basically lost totally its visibility (citation records, you can count on one hand!). It seems that Humphreys has been (compared to me - who almost Died within Aladin!) gently "censored", having his "views" such burried by being finally published in a journal with no impact factor. I haven't been given that chance (in time...)

Humphreys pictorial clarifies by mixing in the same picture "stripes" & "charge order". Strikingly, the 4x4 charge ordered nanodoamins that he builds do not rely on
Zhang-Rice singlets as a description of the Oxygen Holes in the cuprates, but, as pictured, it shows that they are binding electrons in Cu-O-Cu with spin up-down-up magnetic correlations (Cu orbitals being all in the same dx2-y2 orbital state) in his Figure 4.b,  possibly paired into bipolarons (Fig 4.c): this is reminiscent of  the dz2 (or, what makes manganites different to cuprates, differently oriented dx2 or dy2) orbitally ordered Manganite's Zener Polaron as pictured in my talk here.

In the "advertisement" made in 1997 in Physics World, it is said that "Humphreys admit[ed] that the model [because it is, like mine heuristical/pictorial] will need to be developed into a full-blown theory before predictions can be made, he believes that in the meantime his model should be used to re-analyse existing data." an so do I, regarding my "theory" of manganites... But a year later after its announcement and occultation, that's were they were in Oct 1998, in superconductivity... The debate gets ugly... Humphreys views are completely forgotton... The rather "abstract" bi-polaron theory (of Alexandrov), highly disputed by big names (Anderson...) and 20 years later, the polaron/phonon vs. magnetic correlation that still these days, 20 years later, define two exclusive schools of thoughts that are advocating each, their favoured mechanisms, set in competition. Zener-Polarons achieve the paradigmatic shift, which shows how in fact the two mechanisms conjointly act together, to form the quasi-particles we are looking for!

Such a vision of Manganites corroborates Humphreys view of Cuprates by redefining "double exchange", i.e how magnetism, affects the charge transport mechanism whilst analogies and differences, can clarify the difference of phenomena, between the two systems, Cuprates and Manganites, at the level of the "Chemical Bond" to paraphrase Goodenough. The different type of transition metal orbital involved imply different mechanisms of hole motion: I suggest a pictorial of vibronic motion bringing about a diffusive-like double exchange, in the manganites, Hymphreys suggested a cooperative hole motion in "stripes of bi-(Zener-)Polarons" (the "chanels" separting CO domains, see his Fig 5) in the cuprates. Interestingly, in the same way I pretend that this naturally "explains" the optimal CMR composition , Humphreys' mechanism naturally explains superconductivity  not so much from effective mass arguments (much debated in the ugly debate) but as due to an apparent infinite electronic mean free path made visible by the proposed mechanism of charge transport of the bi-(Zener-)Polarons inside the stripes.

So LOOK AT THOSE PICTURES WELL! There are no coincidences, in the end! if myself in another context than cuprates, I end up invoking Alexandrov after Goodenough and Zener, which interestinlgly leads me to skip de Gennes in the game (not surprisingly, as it was early proven that "

The quesion is: why do Experimentalist and Theorists refuse to SEE - THE  CONSISTENCY of PICTURES! Why do they seem so
protective, like if they were trampling any possible mice under the feet of elephants?!? scared by a Simplicity that in fact reconciles and echo all (yet incompatible) known concepts? OUR pictures (Humphreys and mines) replace 100 000's publications (as counted in 1998 in the end of the Physics World article about Humphreys)! It actually doesn't even matter how much "Right/Wrong" those Pictures are, if (since they are born from Phenomenological intuition) they are simply found "interesting" AS SUCH (without "calculus" experimental or theoretical), a bit like the semi-empirical Goodenough- Kanamori- Anderson "theory" of super-exchange have been praised!

Well... Goodenough proposed the Superexchange theory of Manganites at 32 yo, and he is now 95 yo (still active!), Humphreys is 77 yo and proposed his "H-Tc theory" at 57 yo, Alexandrov, De Gennes, Zener all passed away... and me, I am a teenager! I am "only" 16 yo - born in Master's Yoda's thesis, in 2002!

So, to finish my matured Jedi - argument, I wont compare myself more to such Solid State superstars of strongly correlated electron systems with varied interests surpassing my modest contribution (and very limitated understanding) in vast field these superstar can tackle: I "only" had one focus (the manganites), and some curiosity (for Cuprates, multiferroics..)

What I advocate, is that the main difference that distinguishes me from all "Stripologists" since the 1990's is to acknoledge the rare quantitative nature of A. Daoud-Aladine's Neutron Diffraction work
(aiming at precise & unambiguous structural determination of yet one stripe structure): it demonstrates that in the Manganites, there are no speculations possible anymore!

All the Idea of his Unread Thesis, are proven fully consistent
: striping is due to  Zener Polarons formation/ordering revealed by the Ground state
Superstructure of Half doped manganites, more complex arrangements can be deduced for it! all made Visible thanks to Crystallography and the fact they build a long range charge order specifically HERE. Aladinsane experimentally solved the initial doubts raised by an interpretation originally made on a crystal off-composition (published) by corroborating the structure at the right composition (unpublished), and these two KEY-STONE EXPERIMENT justifies the Heuristic, exercise:
fill the manganite phase diagrams with ZPS (this talk) AND
connect this to Colin Humphreys Heuristic, which constructs short range charge ordered phases with them that he surrounds by stripes of bi-(Zener-)Polarons in the Cuprates correlatively.
