in competition with Tom Fennell - good friend of Dickon who therefore
can confirm we had personal issues all pardonned now! Well... For the
D9 position, you took Marie Helene Lémé Caillaux mainly driven by CNRS
policies, that turned out to be a bad choice, she got moved on
Laue machines later. Tom is a specialist of diffuse scattering, so
retrospectively, I was the best choice! Making cutting edge twinned
crystal experiments there! But during my interview, you kept on bugging
me with the question: what do you tell a woman in a bar about the
importance of what you do, implicitly wanting me to say something in
the line "We do Neutron for Science!" isn't it? Well given the nature
of my PhD I never agreed : I never managed to explain the FUNDAMENTAL importance of ILL-5-14-251, and
Neutron Leader should accordingly understand Grand Challenge
research should not be dealt with like a User program and require high
profile policie avoiding CONFLICT OF INTERESTS! D9 Alone can save the ILL!
